Released on June 29th 1999 this was everything metal heads were craving. Slipknot started things off hot and heavy with their self titled debut album. Without further ado, let us dive into each of their albums and pick them apart. After discussing and critiquing each record there will be a picture of the group with their masks, attire and what they do. They may change the design and some of the members may have come and gone, but that feeling never goes away. They also have a number that is stitched into their attire going from 0 to 8. Each member has their own solidified mask that they wear in the group to intensify their sound and influence their own scary mindset into the souls of their fans. The one thing that I will say that makes this band unique are their masks. The nine member band was founded in 1995 in Des Moines Iowa and are known for thrashing and making havoc for all of their fans. Oh yeah we are going into the dark and gritty for this one people. That being said I am giving you a dive into one of my favorite bands of all time Slipknot. However despite this addition to the band, it soon broke up.Besides our pop punk discussion done by our very own Josh Elsas we haven’t really covered a lot of music on this site. This band also employed the services of Mick Thompson. In it came and began to take over, pushing bands such as Joey's, Modifidious, out of the picture. However with a new wave of popularity in death metal, Paul formed a new band, named, Body Pit. Second band- 1991- 1993: Inveigh Catharsis Same line-up as above Paul from Slipknot was bassist Anders was drummer MEANING: "Right now it represents breathing problems and it's somewhat more uncomfortable than the last ones" Mask - Paul wears a latex pig's face mask. Des Moines definitely has more than its fair share of freaks." Are the masks a fetish thing? I'm definitely into that stuff. Quote - "When we go to radio stations for interviews, we wear the masks and never fail to freak people out. He has appeared in bands such as Vexx, Body Pit, Anal Blast and Inveigh Catharsis all before Slipknot, he also made an appearance with Davo's band, "The Havenots". Apparently he is half black and once burnt a picture of KoRn posing for Calvin Klein live on stage. Paul was not born in Des Moines Iowa, unlike the rest of the band, he was born in LA and moved when he was young. Seems to be a friendly person, with an indulgent personality. Paul is a cofounder of Slipknot with Shawn (6) and Anders. Additionally at this time, green colouring was added to cracks in the mask. Also, in the "Houdini Mansion", during a photo shoot, the forehead of the mask was re-constructed to make it look as if there was a bullet-hole through it. Some of his masks include a latex pig face and black death mask that resembles the mask worn by Hannibal Lecter the mask has nails going through the mouth socket. Turmoil was caused within Slipknot's fanbase when Gray's mugshot from the incident surfaced, as at this time, with the exception of Corey Taylor and guitarist James Root, unobstructed photographs of most members of the band's faces were exceptionally rare In June 2003, Gray was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. Paul was also involved with a project called "F.O.R." with Benji Heldberg (formerly of Black Flood Diesel and now with American Head Charge) Paul uses a Warwick Jazzman bass (4-string and 5-string). Gray was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs in 2004. He is also on tour with Reggie and the Full Effect. He was formerly in bands such as Anal Blast, Vexx, Body Pit, Inveigh Catharsi, and was one of the original members of Slipknot, along with Shawn Crahan and Anders Colsefini. Unlike all the other members in Slipknot, Paul was born in Los Angeles, CA but later moved with his family to Des Moines, IA, where he lives now. He has sung back up vocals for some of the Slipknot songs, such as "Spit It Out" and "Disasterpiece " - usually when Corey Taylor's voice has become too dry, tired, and hoarse. He lives with his family in Des Moines, IA. Paul Dedrick Gray (born April 8, 1972) is the bassist for the nine-piece nu metal band Slipknot.
